Sarah’s S’s

This week all of the things I’m going to add to my blessings start with one particular letter.  Bet you can’t guess which letter the five blessings for this week start with??? Have you guessed yet? Well even if you have I will go ahead and tell you.  The letter is… S. I know big surprise, right? Considering that’s what my first name starts with, you may or may not believe this, but I did not do that on purpose.  Actually I was just sitting at work thinking about the blessings in my life.  Have you ever done that, just sat somewhere and thought about the ways that God has blessed you?  I must confess that I didn’t do it as much as I should have before I started this Stressed-Less Living bible study.
That leads me to my first blessing I call it, Sight.  What does that mean you ask? For me, it means I see my life a little differently now.   God is teaching me to see the blessings in my life regardless of my current circumstances.  Does that mean I always see the blessings in my life? No way! Friends, I am just as flawed as anyone else.  I am just grateful that God is such a patient, loving teacher.  I hope and pray that God will help be that kind of teacher, when I am teaching.
My second blessing is Silver Ring Thing.  Who is Silver Ring Thing? They are a team of college age young adults that came into my hometown last night to present the youth with awesome messages of love, redemption, and salvation. The blessing for me though, really came when I looked around and saw people from churches throughout our county coming together for God’s glory.  I don’t know about you, but I think that’s an awesome thing and I pray that we do it more often.
My third blessing came in the form of a Senior.   No, I am not talking about a senior in high school.   Though I do dearly love my senior high small group girls :0). I am talking about a senior citizen.  Her name was Mrs. Mary.  She was a cafeteria lady at the school I now work at when I was a little girl, but she was so much more than that.  You see, Mrs. Mary always spoke to me no matter where we were; she always took a minute to speak to and hug me.  That really left an impression on me.  She has been quite a while, this week though God reminded me what a blessing she was to me and I bet many other children.   One of the lessons I learned from her, was whether or not a person has children, she can still love many children like they are her own.   It is my prayer that the many children God has blessed me with in my life know how much I love them.
The fourth I call Simple.  I don’t about you, but I tend to be pretty busy.  As a result of my busyness, I often forget about the simple things I love so much like spending time with great friends.   I’d be willing to bet I’m not the only person who forgets about the blessing of the simple things.  I praise God that He is giving me an opportunity to remember tomorrow night while I hang out with some awesome girls for the night.
My final blessing of this post is Sisterhood.  As women we have a unique kinship with each other.  You know what I mean?  For me at least, there are just some things that only my closest girl friends understand.  I think that is why spending time with my sister/friends is so precious.  That is why I can’t wait to spend time with my sisters when I can.  I have found that is deepened when we are sisters in Christ.  I am so blessed to have you sweet sisters.  I thank God for you (Philippians 1:3 NIV).
May we all see the many blessings God places in our lives
Love In Christ,
Sarah

Sarah, your sweet blessing list blessed me to read! Simplicity is so hard to grasp, sometimes, isn't it? Our sisterhood is precious to me, as well. Beautiful words.

Sarah, I just love your blessing list!! It touched my heart that you remembered the cafeteria lady from elementary school because I work in the public schools as an aide. We had a superintendent a few years back who told ALL the staff to go out of our way to greet the children because the only positive greetings some may get may only happen at school—your post was a good reminder to me to make sure I do this.

Thank you for your reminder of the blessing of simplicity and sisterhood!! So thankful for OBS and thankful for your post today. ❤

I am so glad that God was able to use me to bless you this week. Yes. Simplicity is one of the hardest things to grasp, I think. Thank you so much for your kind words, sweet sister🙂.

Thank you so much for your encouraging words, Sue. I think I may use the alphabet to count my blessings again sometime. I hope you had a blessed weekend and that God blesses you this week.
